On fields normally played on by 10 goalers, the Vero Ladies played at IPC on Monday,March 17th in a fundraiser for the Polo Training Foundation. Team "Alex Photo" Kelly Rigsby , only months after her new baby Cas came into the world was back in the saddle and hitting the ball again, this time on Sharon Baumgardt's Taquita.Playing number 3 on the team was Melissa Sommers on Margarita. First timers Kristin Ashcroft and Moriah Bryant played position 1 & 2 respetively. Each now more hooked by the sport than they were before they stepped on the field. On team "Tackeria" Merrily "I only play trot polo" Quincoces rode her new polo pony "Patisa" down the field at the slowest most collected canter that I have ever seen. She did however convert a penalty two and team Tackeria did win the game. I was very proud of my girls as several calls were made and they all acted like they knew how to line up for the penalty shots. Sylvia Firestone, a long time friend and highgoal women player, commented on how polite my ladies were and how well they knew their rules. This is the supreme compliment to me! Julia Ancey and Lisa Kahle played in a fast paced 4 chukker game against a really underated Canadian team and I played with and against alot of old friends from my days in Wellington. We couldn't have done it with out the help of our ground crew Sharon Baumgardt and Lauren Crowe. Fun was had by all!

Kris Bowman Sends I/I Team To Regional Tournament

Jess Downey, Julia Ancey, and Amelia Strazzulla have been playing competitive grass polo for the past five years in Vero Beach with under the tuteledge of polo instructor Kris Bowman. After the girls attended the PTF Camp at Brushy Creek last summer Bowman was encouraged by PTF instructor Robin Dutoit, to send her girls to national competition in the arena. "After the girls committed to the tournament, I turned their coaching over to Robert Lynkeechow, says Bowman. He has a vast knowledge of arena polo and was the right man for the job." The girls won one of their preliminary games and lost their second game leaving them out of the finals. "I am extremely proud of thier efforts and since we do not have an arena of our own to practice in, I couldn't expect them to beat teams who play in the arena on a daily basis. They tried thier hardest and learned alot from Robert and from their tournament experience. What more can you ask for!"

Michelob Ultra Wins Vero Beach January 4 Goal League

Michelob Ultra 4 Goal Team consisting of team captain Peter Busch, Tiffany Busch, Kris Bowman and Rafael Castillo won the Vero Beach 4 Goal January League. There were 5 teams entered in the league this January and each team played one another for a shot at the title. Michelob Ultra, the only team with two female players, won the league and were undefeated. Kris Bowman had played with all three of the other players in the past but it had been two seasons since they had played as a team. The reunion proved fruitful and their playing styles all complimented one another. Peter Busch is a very balanced player and played a great defensive back, while Tiffany Busch and Kris Bowman kept the offensive half of the team converting goals. Rafael Castillo has played with all three players for the past 6 years so he knew what to expect from them and his long passes kept the games at a fast pace.

Vero Beach Junior Players Attend PTF Arena Clinic
